友谊之光

a dear friend of mine has left perth for good. farewells are perhaps the 2nd shittest things international students have to endure - the no. 1 shittest being the packing and unpacking regime every fucking semester.

i know that she's ambivalent about returning to do her honours year here, and much as we all would love to see her stay, we all know that there are bigger better dreams beyond the academia awaiting her. And for that, i sincerely wish that she can have the courage to just step beyond the unknown and work towards her dreams. That journey may be lonely, perhaps intimidating but it has to be made. For it is that destination and the joy of eventually getting that will be hers, and hers alone.

Anway, with considerations about the state of my pockets over the summer, i will be working on the farms in mt barker from tomorrow till early dec. we're apparantly gonna pluck strawberries which is strange, cos' the only thing that i know about mt barker is that they have chickens which roam the fields, and the city (or at least that's what it's depicted on the famous mt barker freerang chickens commercial) . Somehow i'm concerned about whether the presence of chickens roaming in the fields will turn on our collective lust for DoTA (check out the Roshan vs Chickens video below, it's fucking unbelievable)

Till we pwn again, people in perth, relish in the knowledge that you might well be tasting my sweat the next time u eat a strawberry.

说有万里山, 隔着两地遥
不需见面, 心中也知晓
友谊改不了。。

I reckon the farewell bit is harder. The vicious cycle of attachment and detachment that comes along when you make friends from all over the globe. The pain and the nostalgia that comes along with the memories.

The packing is still a bitch, but hey, it never lasts more than a couple of hours max!
