unfair? fair dinkum!

and so it happened. the eastern hemisphere's final represenative in the 2006 FIFA world cup has been eliminated in the dodgiest of circumstances. it doesn't get any worse than this, going 1 man up, dominating possesion through-out the entire match, only to be eliminated by a dubious penalty decision 30 secs from time. Italy 1-0 Australia. fuck.

but wat was more disgusting was the manner in which the Italians celebrated the penalty decision. it may be true that Grosso probably wasn't looking for a penalty decision when he went down under (pun unavoidable) a rather innocuous challenge from Lucas Neill in the box (he did touch the ball, and there really wasn't much contact with Grosso). yet just fucking look at the way Grosso kneels down and kisses the pitch while Totti and gang hugs him giving him a pat on the back.

it was as if they were celebrating a goal. i mean, come on lor, even if u were really fucking diving like Shevchenko in the Tunisia match, u fucking better just tiam tiam and take the penalty, and dun action behdeh so much.

fucking cheebye. sportsmanship is thrown to the dogs. that was in my opinion the lowest point in the world cup. celebrating a dive. PUI! KNN! absolutely disgusting. 有没有更恶的!

for all the shit about those 4 reds and 16 yellows, at least the portugeuse played with real passion, fighting the dutch looking at them in the eye while the dutch reciprocated with the occassion elbow to the eye.

to be fair, the socceroos paid for their lack of any sense of urgency. how often do u see a team strolling in counter attack. it was arguably one of their better performances, though u can't help but to feel that it was their gameplan to play into ET.

Oh well, there goes the remainder of any tinge of any quasi-partisanship i have towards any team in the world cup finals. i really dun think it's gonna be anything more than that in any time soon, if Goal 2010 is any credible yardstick to go by... haiz...

Haha! since when did u become a soccer pundit? Anyway, i think they were celebrating the victory (which came shortly after the goal) and not the goal itself. You see, they went a man down early and it was hard for them to come through (i remember reading somewhere that up to 90% of the Azzuri smoke at half-time). Having said that, we should be glad that Australia got booted out. They were so boring!!
